About Duplex 2205/ UNS 32205/ UNS 31803 Instrumentation Tube Fittings
DUPLEX 2205, also known as UNS S32205, is a ferritic-austenitic stainless steel alloy composed of 22% chromium, 5% nickel, and 3% molybdenum. Its unique duplex microstructure grants it remarkable strength and unparalleled corrosion resistance suitable for various applications. In addition to its use for the production of chemicals, and oil and gas exploration, it also has a variety of uses in saltwater applications. DUPLEX 2205 is a common choice for environments with high levels of corrosive activity due to its resistance against pitting and crevice corrosion. This alloy is renowned for its exceptional toughness, ability to resist fatigue, and ability to deliver superior yield strength. Its remarkable durability makes it perfect for applications that require exceptionally high strength-to-weight ratios, such as in the design of bridges, offshore structures, and pressure vessels.
UNS S31803, also known as Duplex 2205 or F51, is a two-phase ferritic-austenitic stainless steel that offers an ideal balance of strength and corrosion resistance. This alloy’s chromium content stands at 22%, nickel at 5%, and molybdenum at 3%. Thanks to its unique duplex microstructure, UNS 31803 can be used effectively in applications where other alloys have fallen short on performance. Particularly, this microstructure is invaluable in environments that demand resistance to stress corrosion cracking.
Besides its typical use in saltwater environments, UNS S31803 is also extensively used in oil and gas exploration and chemical processing.
