About Duplex 2205/ UNS 32205/ UNS 31803 Buttweld Fittings
DUPLEX 2205/ UNS 32205/ UNS 31803 is the highly popular and widely used grade of buttweld fittings in the world of piping systems. These grades offer a combination of high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, and good fabrication properties, making them ideal for various applications. DUPLEX 2205 is a two-phase, ferritic-austenitic stainless steel that contains approximately equal parts of austenitic and ferritic phases. The combination of these phases provides a high level of strength and excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking and pitting. Additionally, the grade is highly resistant to general corrosion, particularly in chloride-containing environments. This combination of properties makes DUPLEX 2205 an ideal choice for applications where high strength and excellent corrosion resistance are required.
UNS 32205 is a low-carbon version of DUPLEX 2205 and offers the same combination of high strength and excellent corrosion resistance. The grade is commonly used in applications where the low-carbon content is important for ensuring the integrity of the material. The low-carbon content in UNS 32205 reduces the risk of intergranular corrosion and makes it easier to weld. UNS 31803, also known as LDX 2101, is a lean duplex stainless steel. It is duplex stainless steel with a lower nickel content and has a balanced composition of chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen. The grade offers excellent pitting and crevice corrosion resistance, making it ideal for highly corrosive environments. Additionally, UNS 31803 has high resistance to stress corrosion cracking and excellent toughness.
